Just a question, is anyone else's ortho doing a bit of teeth re-shaping as they go along?
Mine smoothed off my front two teeth which were a bit chipped and ragged looking and at my last appointment he brought out the little grinding disc again as I had a gap between the top of my front two teeth and they touched at the bottom, so he made the gap uniform all the way down and is now closing it with a powerchain.
I am getting re-shaping done on my teeth closer to the end. I'm so excited because I love how straight my teeth are but I HATE how the front tooth is shaped funny from me grinding it years ago.
I'm getting my upper front two shaped when my treatment is complete as the wear on them is asymmetrical.
Is the filing painful by the way? Intuitively I feel like it will be, but I've never heard anyone say it is so I'm hoping not...

Yes, I have had my top 2 front teeth shaved down in the middle for the same reason. The space closed up quickly without powerchains.
I go in tomorrow for my next adjustment and I am going to ask him to do the same thing to my 2 bottom front teeth.
Braced on 1/10/05 - full metal- woo hoo!!
Braces coming OFF 5/31/06 !!!
Cool not just me then! No the grinding or shaving doesn't hurt, the ortho basically uses a small grinding disc, I always laugh when he asks for 'The Black and Decker!'
The vibration just feels a bit odd that's all, but the results are instant and it's so nice not to have jagged edges.
Yes I'm going to have my 2 front teeth reshaped before my braces go on, I had porcelain veneers put on them years ago and my Ortho says they are way too large. I've also got to have some laser gum surgery as these teeth are very square at the gum line. I'm excited about it tho, I trust him and I know he wouldnt do it if it wasnt going to look better.

Oh good, that can go on my list of "things to look forward to " then, rather than my list of "things to dread". Guess which one is longer at the moment...
