How long does it take to speak normally after getting braces?

I'm getting braces and the next day I get braces, I have piano class an dim afraid that I can't speak normally cause I'll be embarrassing if I speak weird. 3 days after I get my braces, I have a piano recital were I have to make a speech and it will be very very embarrassing if I can't speak normally by then. Please tell me how long it took u to speak normally and how to speak normally faster. Thanks

I didn't really have much speech problems, just a little slurring on one or 2 words occasionally here and there and that was it. But this usually happens when I speak too fast. I still trip on some of my words very very occasionally now and I've had braces for 6 months.

That said, I think not everyone experiences speech problems with braces. Some people have no issues with them at all. It probably also depends on how crooked your teeth are and how quickly you get used to all the stuff in your mouth too.

I have had braces for over 4 months and still have a bit of a lisp and some words that sound funny to me when I say them. I am not sure if others notice this or not; we are usually our own worst critics.

I have Braces on top and Invisalign on bottom. I had a big issue with speech for the forst few weeks, but only when I had the Invisalign tray in, not when I took it out, so the braces didn’t affect my speech at all it but the Invisalign did. It took a month or so before it totally went away.

I don't have problems speaking anymore, if I ever did, but I still feel I talk differently than before braces. I'm 11 months in. In the beginning I was probably slurring a bit here and there but probably nothing anyone noticed, except for really close persons.

I didn’t really struggle with speaking, except a few slurs here and there, especially with the letter F, but nothing that was too noticeable. The only thing that was kind of hard was learning how to pronounce words comfortabley since I wasn’t used to having metal attached to my teeth, my lips and mouth got sore because of how much extra work it was for me.
