So my braces have made a gap between my two front teeth. I have a narrow overbite. Could it be my doctor is trying to widen the smile or why would this be done in a general sense?
... I want it to close because its not flattering but maybe the ugly gap is justified and i can feel a little hope.
I had the same thing happen when mine went on. I thought maybe to make space for teeth to shift?? Anyway, I liked it it quickly closed back up and I was disappointed

One of my upper front teeth was rotated, so as the rotation was corrected and the tooth was brought into proper alignment, I had a gap open up. It was hilarious because I'd never had gaps in my teeth before. Power chains closed it right up.
It isn't uncommon for a space to appear between the front teeth as the teeth align. This is because the early wires are often trying to create more space for the teeth to move. It doesn't look great but the truth is that orthodontics is much easier when there is adequate space for the teeth than not enough. I would not be concerned as these spaces are quite easy to close off. Good luck!

I hope your teeth improve. How much longer are you going to have your braces on?
I'm in my 2nd month of braces and I noticed a space between my front teeth about a week ago. I looked one morning and thought yuck. Glad to hear I am not the only one!

How are you doing now cindy? Any improvement?
Yes thanks for asking. I had an adjustment about a week ago and got new wires on the top and bottom along with a power chain and no more gap!

I have recently noticed a gap in between my two top front teeth after I got my appointment at 5 months in. Is this normal? I saw replies about how they got it early on, but I got it late and now I’m concerned.
