Hi All!
This is my first time with braces as an adult (31) and I've had my Damon Clear braces for a week today. I've recently had a root canal and I was waiting for the crown to come in when I was referred to an orthodontist in the mean time to discuss straightening up my teeth. I was originally going for implants to replace a missing tooth but this orthodontist told me that the space left from an extraction (a few years old) in my back molars could be fixed by basically just..... moving all of my teeth forward. This process will take about 31 months but will fill the gaps, save me money, and straighten out my teeth in the process. Eager to start, I asked when I could come in for my initially banding and he said right away. He knew of my temporary crown and my permanent porcelain crown in the back at the time and my initial banding appointment was scheduled for 5 days after my consult.
Cut to.... today, my regular dentist calls me and tells me that my crown has come in and they are ready to put it on. When I spoke with them, I told them that I got braces since my last appointment and that my bracket is attached to my temporary crown. They freaked! "WHYYYYY did he do that!"... I have no answers for them. I'm trusting that he knew what he was doing when he put it there. We (ortho and I) discussed the temp in the consult appointment and it clearly looks like a temp crown, so they couldn't have missed it.
So, my question is, has anyone ever had a bracket attached to a TEMPORARY crown? Seems odd to me since they're so fragile.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Bracket glued to TEMPORARY crown!
I guess the ortho either made a minor mistake or figured since the general dentist was going to grind the temporary off, it would be no big deal if It had a bracket, assuming the dentist could open a Damon bracket or remove the ligature. But that's just my SWAG. If you get insight from your ortho please report back.

Re: Bracket glued to TEMPORARY crown!
I also have Damon Clear braces and a temporary crown on a molar that had a root canal. I asked the treatment coordinator about this before the braces went on and she said that it would be better to wait until after the braces come off to get the permanent crown put on.

Interesting!! That makes me feel a little better! So you have a bracket on your temporary?

Re: Bracket glued to TEMPORARY crown!
My boyfriend had a root canal done in preparation for his braces. This is on a molar that would normally get a molar band, so the orthodontist and dentist both recommended that he have the permanent filling done, then put the molar band on the protect the rest of the tooth then put the permanent crown on after braces.

Yes, I have a bracket on my temporary crown. I'm almost 3 months in and no problems with it so far. Fingers crossed!
Re: Bracket glued to TEMPORARY crown!
I have my braces put in a crown that fell and it just glued. I hope it does not fall once I get my braces off in a month. The dentist wants to wait that all get settle before he works on it. My ortho has left space for my dentist to work. I am nervous that I will look with yellow teeth and spaces in my front teeth. What I can do? Anyone advice?
