YouTube
I have found youtube to be SOOO helpful.
There are so many people who have shared their stories, from mild to extreme cases. I encourage everyone to go search for people who have gone through what we are. Kind of makes me feel like I'm a part of an awesome community. I also enjoy viewing their videos as their journey progresses. It's amazing how their smile changes, but most importantly, their confidence!
It's something that is SO worth all this tribulation.
Check my Channel out, as I will be documenting my journey as well. And please post your links if this is something you're doing as well.
To make a note, I believe I'm an 'extreme' case.
I guess because I've seen so many people with pretty straight get braces.

Re: YouTube
YouTube was a huge influence on my decision to get braces. It quickly dawned on me that there lots of people dealing with the same problems I had and that I shouldn't be so ashamed.
With this being my first day in braces I still don't know how I feel about the whole process but I'm glad I finally took the plunge!!
I admire your courage for posting youtube videos about your progress..Hopefully I'll be there at some point.

Re: YouTube
If you notice in my videos, I'm a bit shy and I don't do many close ups. If anything, I shy away from the camera but I want to look back and see how far I've come.

Re: YouTube
I definitely watched a lot of videos too before taking the plunge and getting braces! I wanted to see how people talked the first day of having braces.....a big fear of mine was having my speech affected, and it was affected a little bit at first, but it gets easier everyday! (And I think I'm the only one that notices my /s/sound isn't as sharp as it used to be....I do speech therapy for a living so it makes me extra critical!!) Watching YouTube also gave me a very realistic expectation of what to expect from braces - pain, eating issues, etc. Even after hearing all the negative, I still wanted to get them...so worth it when you see the end result!! For anyone considering getting braces, I think YouTube is a great research tool!
Re: YouTube
I have just subscribed and will be watching your videos in a moment
I've been watching tonnes of videos on Youtube and it's really helped. I've been looking for some more people to follow! I've been thinking about doing it myself but I'm just not confident enough. I have a couple of months to go before I get my braces though so will see!
