I read your post a few days ago and was a little ashamed of myself for thinking "2,000 isn't THAT much"... I've been trying to figure out my reaction. It IS a huge difference in strictly monetary terms of course and I am far from rich, personally. But in terms of something you're only going to do once in your life (hopefully) and something that is basically going to be part of your body for two years ( possibly a very painful one at times), and something that will continue to need attention at least for months and years after treatment (with retainer wear for a lifetime)... $2,000 starts to seem like not that much. If you go with the second office make sure it's not just for the lower price. It sounds like you already have lots of other positive things to say about the second office, so maybe the money is just the icing on the cake. I guess my two cents are: your teeth are worth the extra $2,000 if you feel it's necessary.
•Braces placed August 14, 2014
•Deband November 11, 2015
•Permanent retainer top and bottom
•Essix retainers top and bottom 16 hr/day for a year and then nightly afterwards.

Decisions decisions.
Sorry I think j read that you said power chains cost extra?
Is that normal, everything of mine is included. Power chains, extra bands, new toothbrush when I want, new xmas tree flosser thing whenever I want, any breakages and extra visits all included.

Your first is still quite cheap compared to mine. Where are you from?
Mine were $7,000like Damon braces, too ceramic bottom metal

I'm from Southwest Florida (the Tampa Bay Area). BOTH quotes I received were for comprehensive treatment. Neither orthodontist I consulted with assesses extra fees for power chains, elastics, retainers, etc. Like you, ALL of those things are included in my price. I've also never heard of any of that stuff being extra, but I guess it depends on the ortho and the area? The only thing I would pay for that is not included in the price of my treatment would be extractions, and as was stated earlier I have insurance that covers 80% of that, PLUS I have both a Health Reimbursement Account, as well as a Flex Spending Account, and those offset any out-of-pocket expenses I incur, so basically I'd be getting those done for free.
