Black triangles and IPR

#1 Post by Lorianne »

For anyone struggling with whether or not to get IPR to help reduce black triangles, do it! I had a little bit done yesterday and already seeing BIG difference! I'm loving it!!

I'm glad you love it! I will definitely have to get some as a few of my teeth kind of 'flare out' at the ends, so they need to be shaped a little more straight sided. I talked to my primary dentist about it (cosmetic dentist) and he said definitely have it done so that the teeth fit together perfectly. Keep us posted!

yes! my teeth are triangle shaped! I always liked them, until I straightened them out and then saw the problem they caused! haha! What amazes me is that for so little IPR that was done, the triangle, that before looked HUGE, is now like barely there! I still have a couple of little spaces that need to close up now, but I think I will be very pleased! good luck with yours brooks!

Ortho has done a little IPR between my centrals at my last 2 visits to fix minor black triangle.

No pain or issues at all and an instant fix because the power chain pulls them tight together.

yep, the power chain worked overnight to pull together the space between my centrals. I still have slight spacing between my centrals and laterals (both sides) and also bottom centrals. I can't wait til they close up!

I'm supposed to get IPR done tomorrow on my bottom teeth because of crowding. I'm kinda worried about the procedure. My teeth are a little sensitive.

It sounds worse than it feels, really. It doesn't make your teeth feel sensitive either (or any more than they are already). Don't worry, you'll be ok! good luck though!

That's awesome that it's worked great for you! If I need that done I will definitely do it, as it will only be for the better. I am very anxious to get a power chain to close my spaces...how soon did you get yours on?

I've had power chains on both top and bottom for months now (maybe 6-8 mos), I love them. They really close up gaps and keep your teeth nicely aligned. Your ortho is probably waiting until the time is right for you, then once you get them on, you'll probably have them on til the end of treatment.

My ortho said he'd do this for me as I have fan shaped (triangular?) teeth. I thought it sounded a bit odd so its awesome to hear that it's worked well for others!

That would've been handy! I'll put some up of my own once it eventually gets done :) I can imagine it'll be a while down the track yet though

Not necessarily...my ortho put a powerchain on my teeth in December. It did its job and he took it off at the next adjustment in January. I was surprised since I, too, thought it'd be a permanent thing. I loved it because it really straightened out one of my teeth that was torqued sideways.
