42 year old newbie!

#1 Post by Shiry »

Hello everyone, my name is Shiry. I am new to this board and just started my braces journey. I had 4 teeth extracted , 2 upper and lower bicuspids. I had my upper ceramic braces installed February 7, 2014.

The discomfort is under my upper lip, no pain anymore and this is just the third day. I am anxious and excited about this journey. The only thing that concerns me is my last wisdom tooth I have. I have had 5 teeth removed in 2 months. I am thinking I might get the last wisdom removed, but if I can't keep it cleaned back there I will have it removed.

Hi! Welcome to the boards! I'm also in my 40s (turned 44 yesterday) and have had braces since Nov. 2012. I had my wisdom teeth removed prior to starting along with a vertically fractured 2nd premolar, 5 teeth in total. Also, I've had little to no pain but lots of progress - the old saying "no pain, no gain" doesn't seem to hold true for some of us!
