Hello everyone,
I got my braces a week ago and while the pain has subsided on my teeth, the braces are rubbing against the inside of my mouth which has resulted in some painful ulcers. How long does this last?
Thanks

Re: Brace rubbing the inside of my mouth!
Could be a couple days to a couple weeks. Use the wax!!! I had one spot in the back that was bothering me for a week or so (literally shredding my cheek) and I put the wax on for just a few hours one night and it was enough to relieve the pain and give my cheek a break. A few days later, it was healed up and I haven't had a problem since.

Re: Brace rubbing the inside of my mouth!
I've been using the wax but as soon as 1 bit heals, another part of my mouth starts to hurt! Ah well, the delights of having a brace!
Re: Brace rubbing the inside of my mouth!
Keep using the wax. GUM brand has one with aloe and vitamin E. Really sticks well and has a very light spearmint taste too. I LOVE it and threw away all of the free stuff from the ortho. Once you get a sore, I've had really good luck with the Kanka Softbrush Gel. It comes in a pen-sized container with a brush on the end so you can put it right where you need it. Helps it feel better and heal faster.

I'm with Kathydell! I love that Kanka Softbrush Gel! I always have some with me! At the beginning I waxed every bracket that I could feel period whether it hurt or not. I did this for a couple of weeks to allow my mouth to toughen up and it worked! Every now and then I get an irritating one from movement but it does get better! I hardly ever feel my braces anymore! It's hard to believe that possible. Congrats on starting your journey!

Oh yes, wax should be one of the food groups for us. Well at least the way I deal with it.
