Only 3 days to go until I am braced, excited & nerveous

Getting braces on Thursday. Had a few drinks on Friday night (a few more than I wished for) to make most of my last few days brace free.I know the world is not going to end, I just hope people percieve me the same way. my partner doubts that anywone will notice which I hope its the case.

On another positive note I have decided to give up smoking as I really do not fancy by clear ceramic brackets getting stained my nicotine, on day 3 and feeling good so lets hope I can maintain it. I think the hangover on Saturday definatly helped me, but am determined to stau focused! Thanks all!

I am right there with you, I get my braces put on Wednesday. I have spent this weekend enjoying my favorite foods I might not get to eat again for awhile. Hopefully the process goes smoothly for us both :)

Hi, what type of foods are you missing. Im not too bothered about not eating sweets, just be good to have a few potatoe chips every now and again as tehy are my favourite treat type food.

How are you finding the barces btw and what type did you get? I am worried they will stop me from sleeping, but heres hoping life will go on as usual.

I'm still getting used to eating anything that requires chewing. Both because it hurts and it feels like I get more food stuck in my braces than I swallow. I miss just being able to snack on crackers and stuff like that, and I truely miss my popcorn. Not eating popcorn is going to be hard. At this point I guess I don't miss it as much as I am dreading not being able to eat it.

I got Damon braces, clear on top and metal on bottom.

mine are going on in 12 hours!! I'm terrified but excited at the same time! ill be having the Damon clear metal combo on top and bottom...hopefully all goes well and im not dying of pain or starvation lol good luck!

Good luck everyone! Getting them on is a breeze but make sure you use lots of lip balm beforehand.

I miss deli sandwiches on thick, chewy bread, bagels, waffles, chips, cereal. At the airport recently I ordered soup while everyone else had sandwiches. It was awful. If you are in O'hare, do NOT order Frontera Grill tortilla soup. It is nasty.

Hi, Yes I am so glad I got went a head even though things are still a bit sore and I have the oral thrush. I can feel the braces pulling on my teeth already and swear I can see some movement (I am sure thats just me getting over excited). Just hope I can eat some more solid food soon as fed up of smoothies and mashed potatoe. Because the applaince has made my open bite even bigger its much harder to chew, but have been told this should improve. Thanks guys, its nice to finally be on the way now!
