IPR for Black Triangles

Hi

Has anyone gone into braces or Invisalign just to close black triangles?

My first experience with braces left me with an open bite (now largely corrected by wisdom tooth extraction) and black triangles. This was not explained to me as a possible side-effect before treatment.

I am now back in Invisalign, partly to correct the open bite and partly to correct the triangles. I am getting a sense of deja vu that once again all is not well. I still have a few millimetres gap between my molars when my front teeth are together and my dentist has tried intruding the teeth (pushing them back up into the gums) to close the triangles. It has worked a little, but not much. I read on this great forum and in journal articles that IPR is the normal treatment for the triangles, but when I asked my dentist why he didn't do this he said that they do it all the time, but only when the roots are diverged and we will have to wait to get more x-rays. I know I should be getting a second opinion at this point, but can't afford for people to keep stuffing up my teeth and charging me for it.

Any advice on how to proceed?
