Do you prefer front teeth long or short?

#1 Post by kennyandrew85 »

So my teeth are straightening up now...

Due to the way they have been positioned, my front 2 teeth are a fair bit longer than the ones next to them. I was thinking about getting them filed shorter at the end of treatment so they are almost similar length to the others, what do you think? I think it looks cute on a girl... but as a man i think it still looks a bit 'rabbity' even if they don't stick out.

Does it look better to have all teeth even lengths or does it look good to have 2 front teeth a bit longer?

I don't have a preference but I think it can look really cute when the 2 front teeth are a little bit longer. It adds a little bit of personality to a smile. My brother's smile is like that and does look a little rabbity, but it works. :) Maybe you should give it a week or so when your braces come off to get used to the new look and then decide on whether or not you want to file them down? It's easier to file down than to add more.

Mine are a bit longer. I definitely want them filed to be a similar length to my other teeth.

When I was young mine were a bit rabbity. I liked them that way and always got compliments on my smile. That was before my dental problems began as a result of my bad bite. After that they started to get thin and wear down. Since getting braces they got to be the same length as my laterals. I didn't like it at all, thought it looked too generic like I had false teeth or something. My ortho kinda disagreed, but to make me happy he bent some wires to bring the front teeth down. They are a tad longer now and I'm happy with it. If he brought them down any further they'd hit my bottom teeth and I don't want that. I think it's a very individual thing. Interesting to see the different opinions.

Hi,
in the theory, central incisor is indeed a little bit longer than lateral incisor. It's about 1 mm but i have seen many people including me that have central incisor longer more than 1 mm (i think mine is 2 mm) compared to the lateral but they still look good.

Mine used to be significantly longer, which I hated. My ortho pushed them up and did some filing, and I LOVE how they look now - they are slightly longer than my second incisors, but not much. I think it's a perfect compromise because my smile still has personality and still looks like ME, but it also doesn't look rabbity.

Slightly longer. To me it looks unnatural when all the teeth are the exact same height.

In my opinion the middle two should be a tiny bit longer than the others. My ortho did an excellent job of shaping my front teeth

My central incisors are quite large compared to the rest of my small teeth. I think it adds character and looks cuter. Those teeth should be slightly bigger/longer.
