My daughter (middle school aged) is in braces, so when I decided to get braces I chose to stay with the same practice for convenience and because I like and trust her orthodontist. I had read a lot online about Damon braces and asked my ortho if he offered them. He said he was not a fan of Damon, and I don't recall much of his objections except the marketing and something that he didn't like about the broad arches. (I wish I knew then what I do now from these forums, because I'd probably understand what he was talking about!)

I'm not saying Damon is not a good system -- clearly many here have had great success. In my case it was not a product my orthodontist offered, but it was worth it to me to stay with this practice since we're already there for my daughter (and are pleased with his work on her).

I guess my point is that I agree with the first poster in this thread!

Is the Damon system more popular in the UK? I am in the US (Boston area) and wonder if perhaps it's not as widely used here. It seems many of the Damon clients in this forum are in the UK, but I could be mistaken.

I think most of the videos are from Australia,

Google "braces without extractions" look at the first video result:
Damon Braces with no extraction - YouTube

Brace Date: 14th April 2011
Estimated Debrace Date: 14th April 2013
Real Debrace Date 18th June 2013

4 extractions, upper ceramic brackets and lower metal to fix overjet and overcrowding.
