Bite Turbos

#1 Post by Danielle19 »

Hi im Danielle .. I've had braces for about 7 months ONLY TOPS .. 2 days ago I got 2 bite turbos on my two front teeth to fix my bite to prepare me for bottom braces. But I dont think my bite turbos are going to work for me because im able to fully bite down now.. & I thought that wasn't suppose to happen when you have bite turbos. Aren't my lower incisal edges suppose to hit the bite turbos instead of
scraping against lower facial area??

Hi Danielle, you are right about how turbos are supposed to work - the idea is that your front teeth don't touch the brackets on your bottom teeth and potentially shear them off (at least that's why I had them, maybe there are other reasons). Do your bottom teeth touch them at all, or are they just sitting there not touching anything?

Could be that your teeth will move into a position where the turbos will be effective sometime before your next adjustment, so even though they aren't doing anything now you will need them soon.

Sorry I can't really answer your question more effectively. Usually in these circumstances it's best to ask your orthodontist.
