Is there anyway to lower the bottom arch without intrustion?

Grind the teeth down with a drill. Nothing else that I know of. I also need to lower several teeth in the lower arch and my orthodontist is intruding them. It seems to work pretty well. Any particular reason you don't want to intrude?
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.
