Invisalign Question

#1 Post by LibraKiki »

So I just got my first tray on the top for invisalign. It fits very snug and my teeth are constantly in pain. When does the itching pain feeling subside and does it get better with each tray? I have traditional on the bottom and just had my first adjustment and teeth are feeling the pain due to my extraction of the front lower incisor a couple days ago. Hoping for the gap to close quickly so I can start smiling again.

Sorry for the redundant questions as I'm new to thsi site and a newbie to braces

I have 18 trays in total.

Yes I realized that too. I got 5 buttons and you can clearly see them plus when I take them out they are a bit rough on the inside of my mouth.

My first two trays (I get my third and the attachments tomorrow) didn't hurt. I don't know if my lack of pain is because I don't have attachments yet or if your pain is excessive? Maybe others can pitch in but in the meantime, take tylenol and call your ortho if it gets to be too much. Good luck!

Awe thanks. The pain has mostly subsided. Strange feeling still to have my teeth enclosed. I find sometimes I'm clenching a bit but suppose that will subside as I get used to the trays.

Yay findally can announce I have no more pain and the switching of the trays was not too bad either. They felt really snug.

It seems my clenching has subsided as well. guess my mouth just needed to get adjusted to the trays.

16 more trays to go and hopefully my teeth will show a big difference!

Just put in tray 6 and the pain has returned. Just counting the time till the pain resides and the tray starts to feel looser. I feel I'm still clenching as it helps with the pain.

I wonder, how does the pain compare to regular braces(for anyone who has had both)? I was originally thinking I would do invisalign but I might end up doing ceramic braces, depending on a) consult #2's opinion and b) cost

I didn't find my Invisalign painful at all. There is a bit of pressure each time you change your aligners, but nothing to be concerned about. I actually like that initial pressure because it feels like it's doing what it's meant to do. Good Luck.

Hey, I have traditional on the bottom and I have to say the first week or so are painful as your gums and the inside of your mouth grow tougher to the metal digging and rubbing. I couldn't eat or bite into things for a good two weeks.

Invisalign is a lot better as they trays don't cut up your mouth. I just don't like the buttons. They are on all of my front teeth.

Go invisalign if you are looking at less pain but go traditional or other if you don't think you can be consistent about wearing your trays at least 20 hours a day.

Invisalign is more expensive.
