Debond Impressions

#1 Post by blackapple »

How long does this usually take for an appointment? This is the second to last appointment I will have. June 7 the braces are coming off. Do they have to remove the brackets do get this impression along with the wire? Still nervous my teeth are going to shift immediatley after the braces are removed. Yes I am paranoid and want to keep my symmetrical teeth how they are now. My ortho knows I am nervous and constantly jokes that he will just glue all my teeth together lol.

I am going to miss interacting with you fine folks on this forum.

2nd to last appt??? Don't you get retention visits? I think I get like 2 years of visits.

I have a debanding scheduled for lower only, and that's for 80 mins. I know they need longer for both arches, but I don't think it's twice as long.

I would be getting a bonded lingual retainer that same day, and impressions for an Essix-type once the braces are off and the lingual retainer is in. I would receive the Essix a few days later.

It was no big deal as I had the appointment this morning. All they do is remove the wires only. I am getting an essix on the top row with permanent retainer. Also getting a permanent bonded retainer on the bottom. Less than a month and they are off. My orthodontist has been documenting my case for a case study for use with his students as my teeth have done a complete 360 and he is proud of his work. I was told to come back in 6 weeks just to check to make sure the retainer is fine but I doubt I will do that if I don't feel any. I have put my life on hold and moving out to the west coast because I have been waiting for the braces to be off. I'll be fine. Good luck folks.

OP, I was wondering the exact same thing! I don't want my teeth to move either from the time I am debanded to when the retainers come in. Good question!

Last go-around I was given a temporary essix style retainer until my hawleys came in. It's been over a decade, but if I remember right, it took a week or two for them to come in. They made slight adjustments at the next retainer appt.

Sure makes me wish I'd have kept that lower hawley instead of asking for a permanent bonded retainer for the bottom a few months later... oh well.

Smile,
