It for sure will be, and it already is! I have also had migraines all my life, so maybe that was because of the crossbite? If they disappear, that would be a NICE bonus
I wish your treatment proceeds through its final stages smoothly. Don't forget to wear a retainer though, I have read that crossbites tend to relaps (50% of cases that is a lot to me) and proper retention is important. What type of retainer are you getting?
Had full mouth metal braces for 21 months. Debonded April 2013. Now wearing clear plastic retainers every other night.

I am not sure on the retainers yet. I would love permanent and the kind that look like invisiline. If I can get every type of retainer, I would gladly pay extra. After what I have paid, these teeth better not move!

My ortho discussed retainers during the initial consult. If nothing changes, I will be getting the "Invisaligne" looking trays top and bottom that I will have to wear 24 hours a day for a week, every night for about a year, and 2-3 nights per week for life after that. I would really like to get the permanent ones as well; however, this was not discussed. Maybe I will raise this question closer to the end of treatment, since I want to have my teeth in the proper position first :D

but they are supposed to work wonders on your bite [that is horribly messed up at the moment], aren't they? I just want to feel NORMAL bite again...

I can't wait to have at least the bottom braces and have my upper wire changed. I just need some orthodontic action, if you know what I mean, ha-ha! :-*

ArchWired28-

You better believe they work wonders! When my teeth finally got into their current bite position (almost perfect), it felt so strange, because my front and side teeth have never touched before. I told my ortho it felt strange for them to touch, and he just gave me a strange look (the same look he always gives me).

I just love your enthusiasm!! I think you may actually have some fun with this stuff!

if I ever get to any of it  While I am convinced that my bite is terribly messed up (it feels that way too!), per ortho - I am a relatively easy case. But having had one type of bite all your life, changing it even slightly feels like your mouth is a mess.
I might get elastic and powerchain, maybe. Maybe nothing. The thing is, so early in the treatment, I bet the ortho does not really know himself. But I would not mind something of that fansy orthodontic stuff

I am the opposite. I want my teeth fixed because I was starting to have TMJ and issues with uneven wear, but the least torture, the better.

Catgyrl is right, power chains are amazing things. I thought I wouldn't need them, because I have no gaps in my teeth, but my ortho also uses them on rotated teeth (to unrotate them and move them into place).

And a shoutout from the Tampa Bay area! If you ever need to know where they have the best mac&cheese and ice cream, let me know. After I go to the ortho, I live on that stuff for at least a week.
Metal braces from March 2011 until October 2012. Hawley retainers since October 2012.

Hey AW--I think that I'm coming from the point of view that I know that I am going to have one of those "torture devices" in a couple of months called a Forsus. It's like fixed metal springs (similar to elastics) while I'm in braces. I won't be able to remove them. The purpose is to assist in bringing my significant overjet in. The ortho has made it clear that I can have them removed if I just can't handle them, but if it's going to help the process, then I'm all in...I won't know if I don't try...

One thing you don't want are molar buildups and/or "turbos". Not cool. I'm totally used to mine now, but they suck.

Do you have a desire to get all of these devices just out of sheer fascination? Or just the fact that you think they exist to help you? I came across a website where all these people were dreaming up their "fantasy" orthodontic scenarios. It was actually really interesting. The website was vaguely fetish-y, but just reading about all the different contraptions and how bad people wanted them was intriguing. There are people that desperately desire headgear for some reason. I have my own quirks and obsessions, and I will gladly admit that I am very much entertained by my experience with braces, but I can see that there are some people that are really into this stuff!

Its cool though, when I hear someone else talking about looking forward to, or enjoying their braces. It makes me feel normal, because I totally dig mine too! I known I'm going to need elastics and powerchains, but I'm not really looking forward to anything else being put in there. It's crowded enough as it is! Do some people dig their elastics for some reason? I've heard they can be irritating.

As I got to know, I am getting one of them (probably, molar build-ups) with my lower braces in 2 weeks! But thanks for letting me know in advance, I appreciate it!

I do think that I am a little obssessed with an orthodontic treatment now, but this is because I have a lot of TMJ symptoms. I am very hopeful that fixing my messed up bite will address them to a great extent. I think this is the biggest problem going on in my life right now, and so I am probably concentrating on it too much :| But I also have OCD and tend to fixate on things, too. A friend of mine told me yeaterday that if she hears words "rotated or messed up/ displaced jaw" from me one more time, she will manually shift it into place and save me time and money on the orthodontic treatment :gavel: :-*

Did you have extractions as well?
