My top canine moved the second month of treatment, and started whacking one of my bottom teeth...it hurt. But there was nothing to ortho could do about it because we're in the aligning phase. Since your teeth are moving this will happen on and off, and there isn't anything you can do to stop it. Just one of those things you have to wait out, your teeth will move around again at the next adjustment, and hopefully stop banging into each other. Mine was at the point that it hurt to eat sometimes.
Keep taking advil too, that'll help with the pain.

The upper and lower teeth are supposed to contact each other whenever you bite down. The feeling is just really noticeable to you right now because the teeth are painful.

I've had some involuntary jaw movements, which cause my upper and lower teeth to "click" together. It mostly happens when I'm sleeping, and it feels really weird. Depending on what stage I am in my tooth movement, sometimes it hurts like hell, and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all. I think it's all part of the tooth movement process; just another thing we have to deal with when we're braced.

yes, this involuntary jaw movement happens to me about one a week (i kept forgetting to post about it) and it freaks me out. It must be because my bite is changing. Sometimes it is completely random while I'm walking in the corridor at work and I end up making some strange moaning noice because I either bit my tongue or cheek or startled myself. I make a quick check to make sure nobody has noticed me. It has happened while in conversation just prior to speaking but nobody has said anything so I think they might not notice (although my face is probably bright red!). I make some sort of quick diversion with facial expressions to compensate and cover up the issue. Freaky braces!!

This involuntary movement is was what made me finally get braces. It wasn't so bad when my teeth weren't so crowded and "pushed up" on the bottom. Now that it has gotten so much worse in the last few years I have chipped my front teeth quite a bit. :(
