I also have super pointy canines (see my story). I asked my ortho if he can do anything about them, he said once we are closer to the end of treatment, he will file them down. They really bug me though, and to me it ruins the way my teeth look now, they are perfectly straight, but all I can see are those two teeth. I got elastics recently and they are hitting the bottom brackets now, so I'm hoping he will do it sooner!

Hi b! I've just read your story and I feel less lonely now! :)
Your teeth look great! Your canines are a little shorter than mine compared to your incisors(or maybe they're just less erupted!^^) so I think that with very very little filing they'll look awesome!!
I used to hit my bottom brackets too but my ortho "adapted" them instead of the "evil teeth" (in my 3rd pic you can see the rounded edges of the bracket!)
Keep your story updated, I can't wait to see your final results!

Thank you!
I will update soon, I havent put up new pictures in months and so much has changed since then. Im going for my 7th adjustment next thursday, maybe I'll take some pictures after that.
My canines do seem to be a bit shorter, but they seem to be more in the front so they look more vampire-ish! I cant wait till he files them down, I would be able to get a better idea of what the final result is going to look like.

update: I went to the ortho yesterday and she basically said she's not going to file my canines because she likes "big teeth" :?
She said that they're so healty and strong it's a shame to touch them...
BUT...good news!I'm in the finishing stages, if everything is fine at the next appointment, I should be braces-free by the end of August!
I have a question though... The back of my upper central incisors hits the front of the tips of my lowers when I bite... is it normal? they never touched before...

vampire teeth

Hi tartaruga -

I have the same problem you do with pointy vampire teeth. My friends make fun of my fangs all the time. I hate them, but I'm worried about changing them and losing character or something. I won't get my braces on until a few weeks and I haven't really talked about my pointy canines to my ortho yet. I've seen some of your pictures and I think your pointy teeth are not as noticeable as mine although it might seem that way to you. What is your first language? I would love to know. :)

Yes tartaruga, that's exactly the way they are supposed to touch.

Hi sadpanda!
As you said, you haven't got braces yet!I don't know what your situation is but I think you should wait until they're in the right position before worrying about them... Maybe they'll be less noticeable once all of your teeth are straight!
As for me, I think I'll just have to live with them as they are!
Let me know what your ortho suggests!
(I'm Italian...that's why my English sounds so akward! :D )

Thanks felicia!!!

Tartaruga - you can still ask your dentist if you're uncomfortable about the pointy canines - maybe if your ortho won't file or bond the dentist will. I am often surprised when I see a professional refuse to do something for a patient when it would be a matter of so little.
