Discontinuing treatment - will I get a retainer?

#1 Post by NKovaci88 »

In a few months I will be moving to to Europe for a year, and will have to discontinue my treatment, which I'm about 90% done with. My question is...would I be given a retainer despite not completing treatment? I wouldn't want to lose the progress I've made...(my upper arch in particular is about where it should be).

I'm willing to live with my teeth not being 100% perfect, but there's also a possibility I might finish my treatment when I return. Does anyone know how this works?

If you've payed for your braces in full, then you'll get a retainer.
If you haven't finished paying for your braces and plan not to, then I'm not sure.

Can you transfer the remainder of your case to an ortho in europe? It would be such a waste to quit 90% of the way through!

every office has a different policy on this so you should just ask your treating doc.

As mentioned you may want to look into a transfer to finish too.

yeah they should try to finish since I here having a stable bite at the end of treatment is crucial for trying to keep teeth in the same spots after treatment.
