Am I near the end???

It's been 1 year 3 months since I was braced. I am amazed at how beautiful my smile is.
I went in for an adjustment today and one of the assistants told me that she was amazed at how fast my teeth have moved...that even though the Dr. had said that I would be in braces for 2 1/2 years, it looked like I was nearing the end. And that I was in steel wires which is what we wear towards the end.

I didn't have a chance to talk to the Dr. about it but I will next time. I was just wondering how long were you all in steel wires before the braces came off? I know it's different for everybody but I just want to get an idea of how long you stayed in braces after you got your steel wires.

Hi Jess,

I initially was estimated to wear my braces for 12 months, but I wore them for almost 17 months.

I wore SSwires on my uppers for a year, I had issues with my bite and kept breaking the niti-wire in the same spot so my ortho decided to replace it with a SSwire a month early. I was in the detailing phase on my uppers for about 8 months and wore a SSwire on my lowers for about 6 months.
