At end of treatment but bite feels 'off'??

#1 Post by TLB in Minneapolis »

I am at the end of my treatment and in a rectangular wire. It's got lots of bends in it. I see bends on one side of my upper arch and not on the other. It's those teeth that are slightly pushed back/forward that I feel my affect my bite and make a slightly off. I kind of wish he would just put me in a brand new wire to make my arch symmetrical again. Also, it look like my right side upper teeth are slanted inward a bit and my left side is more straight up and down.

I definately want this corrected before he takes them off and I don't know exactly what to say. Also, its a bit hard to see the bend I'm talking about unless you take my powerchain ligs off. As I'm writing this, my bite touches first on my right side and I have to really bite down hard for my other side teeth to touch. Hmmm, I'll try to post pics.

Any advice on what I should do. I have a deband date set on 5/13.

I can't see my teeth being corrected by then..I'm kind of freaking out!!

Thanks.

I have the same problem! My right side seems to bite down a lot better than my left. Sometimes it barely feels like I'm biting down on my left side. When I look in the mirror, my arches don't seem symmetrical. My left side seems quite open, but also, the right side of my lower jaw starting from the canine backwards are a lot taller than my left side. This bothers me SO much!

I have one more adjustment before I'm due to be debanded 2 weeks from the adjustment. I am totally freaking out, and am definately going to push to have them on for longer until my bite seems to be better than it currently is.

Have you spoken to your ortho yet? I'm going to speak to mine at my next adjusement in a weeks time.

I've heard that the bite can settle and get "tighter" for lack of a better word, after the braces come off and you're in retainers. I think sometimes the bite isn't perfect at debracing but it gets better. But yea def. discuss with your ortho. Hope it works out!
