Hey all!
I am 42 years old & just got braces for the first time in my life last Wednesday. I always had PERFECTLY straight teeth but the last year or so, I noticed my teeth started to chip, crack, wear down & the enamel started to come off! I went to my dentist & he said I have a class III bite & that is why my teeth are chipping & I need braces. I couldn't believe it! So I got the Damon braces. My cheeks & tongue are torn apart & it feels like I have a cheese grater in my mouth. But they really aren't as bad as I thought they would be. Here is a picture of my second day in braces.....

I have been reading all of your posts over the last couple of days & I would be lost without this forum! I have learned so much.

Your teeth are so pretty and so white!
I bet you're going to be thrilled with your smile and your bite when you're done.

Hi,

just wondering how a set of teeth that look so maligned could need braces.

what does class111 mean?

Thank you GiovanntiLawing & beachbum. A class III bite means that my top teeth sit directly on top of my bottom teeth. My teeth are straight, it's my bite that is off. Since all of the enamel has worn off the back of my front teeth, I will need veneers on them when I get my braces off since my teeth on top are so thin. Otherwise they will continue to chip & break. My top front teeth are all bonded because they are really a mess.
