Payment/Getting them off

#1 Post by KLOU117 »

Hey everybody,
I don't really post here or browse too much but I had a question. My dad seems to thing that I'll get my braces off once they're paid off, regardless of where I am in my treatment. I tell him he's wrong, but I really don't know for sure. Would the orthodontist keep them on even if my treatment is done, just because we haven't paid them off completely? I'm kind of worried that it's true. I'm so sick of these things.

I made my last payment already, and my braces are still on. They will still stay a while, I'm afraid...

Would that convince your dad?

hehe, maybe not, but it convinces me. Thanks! (And here's to hoping you get them off sometime soon)

The price your Ortho gives you would be to complete the job. You can pay your braces off up front if you want, or at any time during treatment. I was charged $1000 down plus $230/month for 20 months(20 months is also my estimated treatment time). But i plan on having them paid off within the first 6 months or so..

I was given a 28 month payment plan and a 24-30 month treatment time. Clearly my ortho is OK with either having payments outstanding while braces are off, or me not paying anything while braces are still on.

I think your dad is right, it just depends on your orthos policy. My ortho will not deband u until they are paid in full, good thing I just paid mine off. Ask your dad did the ortho say that but to be honest that sounds about right. Meryaten hit the nail right on the head. Do u know if you have an outstanding balance? Are u near debanding? I just paid my balance off to avoid this issue. Good luck

If your ortho won't take them off, I guess you could always chew on some corn nuts, carmel popcorn, nuts, hard breads, etc to debrace yourself.
