An early release with concern

#1 Post by kirjax »

So anyone would be smitten to find out they're getting their braces off early and as I truly am it comes with concern.

I went in for my appt. today. I was expecting to have a bracket removed and repositioned on the bottom as well as possibly a smidge of IPR. The problem is a small tiny gap in one of my bottom teeth. This is bc the shape of my one tooth is a bit off causing the tooth next to it to not be able to push together....anyways....I went in today and my regular ortho was out sick so we had the secondary ortho fill in. My tech said he would be in to reposition my bracket.

When he walked in he looked at my teeth, my bite, my chart (thoroughly) and then asked me, "how do you like your teeth?" of course I said, "love them BUT...I asked about a top tooth where I feel as though it too has somewhat of a small gap. Anyways he looked and said unfortunately it won't be able to be fixed like I want it bc as adults are gums begin to recede which causes "black triangles" - Because of this it doesn't always allow for the teeth to properly move together. But I know some folks on here have had IPR to possibly help with this problem. Well in the end he did nothing with my teeth. When I asked my tech about why I wasn't getting the bottoms fixed she just said, "he's not your regular doctor he prefers not to do it.".....hmm okay fair enough but now I have to wait until Dec 15th to fix the problem??

So as I'm making my appt. I need to figure out how long the next appointment may be (due to work scheduling) and she said, "well it will be long because they're going to do impressions for retainers!"

I was kind of taken back cause I'm thinking, really? isn't that too soon??
Anyways, I sort of want to be thrilled bc I could possibly have these off in Jan/Feb but at the same time I really don't want them off until I feel as though I could possibly tighten up some of these spots.

So I was wondering what would you do?? I mean these guys are the experts so I trust them but I really would love better results. But I guess they did what they could do. I'll post pics later of where I'm at now. I mean don't get me wrong I LOVE my new smile I guess maybe I'm being picky.

I would take them off!!
I look at it this way
..my teeth were not straight before braces &
Now I have a nice bite & straight teeth although they are not perfect they are better than before.
Im 21 & I have that little black triangle between my first two teeth..since it cant be fixed because of the shape of my teeth..i'll just learn to live with it
its not going to be noticeable to other people when Im talking to them so its really not a big deal.
You just notice them because you may examine your teeth &/or was expecting that perfect smile.

Not everyone will have a perfect smile..braces or no braces.
But if you still feel its a problem I guess wait til Dec. and ask again.
