What would you do?? & Thank you!!

Friends, I need your advice on what you would do in this situation.

I have a potential debanding date but there are two things that are preventing me from feeling 100% elated.

1) My journey began with an edge to edge and a posterior open bite. Now my molars are touching but every time I take the elastics off they don't seem to have the impact they do when they are on. Even though my ortho says it's ok to deband, I guess I am wondering if an extra month or two with elastics will help bring the molars together even more or if this is the extent at which my molars go.

2) Now this is soooooo vain, but my facial midline feels like it's not symmetrical with my upper set of teeth - by a hair! The difference is very small but after staring at your teeth for 1000x a day and not to mention 2 years in braces you kinda can't help but want perfection

So I guess with all this said...what would you guys do? My plan is to go in during my next appt (potential deband date) and raise these concerns and see what they say. They could deband or not... but what would do you guys think? Am I going crazy with point #2? Does everyone's molars pretty much have a good feel as far as impact goes? I guess I just love the way food is chewed right after I take my elastics off, but once they are off for 40 minutes I can feel less of an impact.

ALSO, I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum. What a great sounding board full of people who can only understand your frustrations, simple joys, and paranoid questions. =) This place is great.

I would definitely raise these concerns with the orthodontist, because there may be something they could do, even beyond debanding. Just today, I got my "informed consent" pamphlet from the ortho, and it addressed one of the issues you mention. And I quote:

(ahem)
"Occlusal Adjustment - You can expect minimal imperfections in the way your teeth meet following the end of treatment. An occlusal equilibration procedure may be necessary, which is a grinding method used to fine-tune the occlusion. It may also be necessary to remove a small amount of enamel in between the teeth, thereby 'flattening' surfaces in order to reduce the possibility of a relapse."

So it sounds like you just need your occlusal equilibrated! :D

Hey Gennel, I would post pics but unfortunately (or sadly) my camera broke during a vacation in Mexico and I still haven't bought one yet.

PuppySmiles- thanks for the info! Although, I think that in my case it's more about not having enough impact to even have the Occlusal Adjustment done =) When I have my bands on I love how my molars feel!! But after a good hour of not wearing them I can feel more of my lower front teeth meeting the back of my upper front teeth. It's not TOO annoying but still, I'd love for my molars to keep that impact they do when the bands are on.

As much as I want these braces off I guess I will raise these questions to my ortho. I don't want to annoy them either but I feel I should at least ask...

Thanks again guys.... =) Really appreciate it
