I was at a local coffee shop today buying a lemonade and the lady behind the register had braces. She noticed that I had braces and she flashed her smile even bigger. I thought was kind of cool. I didn't say anything to her. Just smiled back.

I do the same thing and I have noticed other adults smiling what feels to be bigger once they find out I'm not 16 ;) My braces make me look really young and I'm really 26 8)

While in Tokyo recently, I noticed that the girl serving me was also braced up. My knowledge of Japanese is scant to say the least but I managed to say "onaji"!!! (which means same) while pointing at my mouth and grinning like a woman with a knife in the electric toaster. She laughed too and replied "gambarimasho" (go for it!) while punching the air.

Different languages, different continents but the same goal.
