Craving for good snacks

#1 Post by adultbraces »

yum.. I've been craving some good snack (sugary) all day long today. I've been having fruits and soy milk ( 6 gram of sugar per serving) and now I want some normal sugary snacks.
What is your closest sugar subsitution?
Or your snacks to feed you sweettooth?

yumm talkign about PIE, i want some cheese pie from Marycalendar..
I don't have much problem with chewing.. fact that snack contains high sugars bothers me..
I could probably finish the half of this whole pie.. would it develop cavities? Or brushing afterward will de-sugar my braced teeth?

I go chocolate... Lindt classic milk chocolate or the golden 300gr bar.

A classic with or without braces!

Creamy smooth chocolate, this sounds good.

As long as I can chew it without fear of breaking something, I'll eat it!!! My dentist doesn't care how much sugar I eat as long as I rinse my mouth with water afterward. If it is sticky or big enough to get caught in small spaces, I'd brush--given the braces. Eat up!!!!

Oatmeal cream pie is not actually a pie, its like a really soft type of cookie and really tasty. You should find them in most grocery stores. They should be where all the Hostess stuff are.

don't eat any chocolate with nuts in them, the nuts get stuck in your braces and it's so annoying. But I really eat anything I want... lol i can't help it!!

I don't bother with sugar substitution at all because I love, love, LOVE chocolate! When I had my extractions, I stocked up on those chocolate pudding snack cups. Now they are just a staple in my fridge.

I don't feel gilty when I eat sugary foods, I just don't crave them all that much. That said, when I need a chocolate/sugary fix, I eat this, they're REALLY YUMMY!!

I LOVE chocolate. It's just great  However, I did hear that when you crave sugar you are actually needing protein. So I have tried eating something with a little more protein like cheese cut into squares or something easy to eat. ( That way I won't be lazy and not want to "make" anything...since I can do this ahead of time and put in little snack bags) Or even a peanut butter sandwich/crackers. It actually worked and I didn't crave sugar as much as before. Maybe it's just a whole mind set, but I'm sure I have read it somewhere before also. The plus side is, it's more healthy and not as bad for braces, right? 8) If not, then go for the sugar like you want and just brush afterwards like normal i would think.

Why are we looking for sugar substitutes? As long as you aren't eating sugar all day and every day, just have a little of what you want. Keep your teeth clean with or without hardware, and you should be able to enjoy ALL the foods you had before.
