mmm... Salads and most raw veggies... The crunching is hard. Mostly, I can't wait to tear into something (anything, really!) with my two front teeth. Most stuff I can mash with my molars, but I never really bite INTO anything. I have to place it in the back of my mouth.

Salads. Burgers. Apples... Oy oy oy.

I get so fed up of it hurting and feeling conscious about how i look trying to chew my food that i get fed up and give up after a while  Can't wait to just enjoy my food again without being in pain!! :D

Second of all... I just had to say that I am COMPLETELY in LOOOOOVE with macs too.
Ha! Obviously I'm from New England, because when I read that I thought you were talking about Macintosh apples! They're my favorite kind of apple, almost impossible to get fresh down here in Texas, and with October coming soon I'm ready for some fall weather and apple picking (not gonna happen unless I fly to NH!) I would love to bite into an apple instead of slicing it. :D But I know it's all going to be worth it.

I thought I would miss gum because I used to have such bad breath - but since giving up all that sugar, my breath is fine! It's a shame it took getting braces to make me cut down on sugar. :?

I miss bread rolls! I have a really great Vietnamese bakery nearby that make the best chicken and salad rolls! I used to be a Subway addict, but I have been turned off as the bakery salad rolls are of far better quality!

Has anyone else lost weight like I have? I don't eat as much as I used to because it's such a pain to clean my teeth afterwards. I also eat a lot slower because I have to cut everything up, so I get full while I'm eating and I don't over-indulge. I think it's great - I'm losing weight and getting a beautiful smile. I'm going to be a very confident woman once my 18-24 months are over!

I'd have to say I miss things like big hard pretzels and actually biting straight into a sandwich.....I'm still cutting mine up into pieces, unless it's a pb&j sandwich.....

LOL!!! Choppers I'm WITH YA! I am a complete lazy bum. It's such a DRAMA to brush, I just don't eat that much. haha It's probably not a good thing but... it hasn't killed me yet :? I've lost 18 pounds so far LOL without lifting a finger (HA, literally  ) The only bad part is I've noticed I drink a lot more :? Not so much alcoholic drinks as coffee, espresso, soda, lattes... anything with flavor! haha

Jovifan... I miss biting into sandwiches too! :( cutting up a cheeseburger just isn't the same... the looks I get from doing it aren't so fab either haha

Me too! For all those days I was deprived of real food, I made it up with smoothies, juices and lots of hot chocolate. Everytime I'm feeling a bit tender and want something sweet, I have a glass of pineapple juice.

There are a lot of foods that I miss and I think they have been listed. It had been 6 months due to TMJ since I had been able to bite and apple! So now it will be another year or so since my braces have been on 5 months and I was told 15-18 months.

Other things are popcorn, skiddles, carrots, celery, and I could go on and on.

I see where several people say they still eat nuts and I have tried but they don't taste the same since I can't chew them up like I could. Is it just me?

I do not miss flossing without a threader as I could not get floss through my teeth before. At least now I don't shred the floss.

I miss salads and nuts and crunch n'munch popcorn

I have lost 5 pounds - because I am very lazy about cleaning my braces after I eat so I just don't eat between meals

Maybe my first meal after the braces come off will be a taco with some nachos -yum yum
