2 Upper Extractions this Friday (9/14)!!!!!

#1 Post by JoviFan »

A couple of you have known my story ( viewtopic.php?t=20191 ) -- well, today I had the oral surgeon consult, and am set up to have 2 upper bicuspid extractions Fri afternoon at 2  under sedation :) :) That was the earliest they had, otherwise I would have had to wait til next Wed...and if I'm doing it I want to get it overwith and 're-start' my braces journey!!! So I need to call and set up appt with ortho next week late, to get my wire back on the entire top and I think my lower braces on :)

I'm just looking for a little reassurance that I'm making the right decision !! Tell me that my gaps will close completely! and that my facial profile won't change for the worst!!!! and this will fix my overbite!!!! I know, you can't really tell me any of those things! I feel like it's the right option for me, I'm just a little scared of the final outcome :) I'm the kind of person that plans things, and likes to know what's going on when , so this journey is a little tough for me!... I do fear the unknown, and admit it! lol Sort of excited and nervous at the same time!

Oh you poor thing. I know exactly how you feel :D I had 3 teeth removed prior to being braced and i think that decision was harder than having braces put on.

I have noticed a slight (very slight) change in my face, but in a good way. And im trusting my ortho when he says all the gaps will close.

Try not to worry :)

Casey - thanks! and I think you are right about it being a tough decision (although it took me 10+ years to finally look into orthodontics seriously!)

Every best wish with your extractions and here's to a smooth recovery! :rose: Will be sending positive energy your directions for Friday afternoon!
I'll take all the good vibes and positive energy you can send!!! I'm sure it won't be as bad as I'm imagining.....but the next 2 weeks, I'm not really looking forward to! Between the extractions and then getting the lowers on  and prob elastics- I had a headache for almost 1 week after the tops went on....so atleast I know what to expect!
btw-what's the 'usual' time frame from extractions to getting the wire back on and starting elastics???

Well, they're out!!!! and I'm gonna stick them under my pillow tonight!!! ROFL

A little sore, have had ice on and off since I got home....was able to eat some choc pudding, yogurt and a baked potatoe tonight....

I have 1 stitch in each whole that will dissolve on their own... and actually the doctor just called to see how I was doing!!! Now that was a nice surprise!
off to take a tylenol with codeine for the night :)

I feel a little relief now that that part is done :)

Wow congrats! I was too chicken to go through with my "optional" extraction... you've definitely inspired me! :jump: You should get a new car under your pillow for that one!
