sensitive teeth

#1 Post by candycin »

for the last few days i have had two teeth that are very sensitive
Cold or hot and pressure casues some discomfort
i want to think it is a result of movement but they were fine after my adjustment (2 weeks ago) and now they have been very sore
It almost feels like it goes up past the gum line
i also notice that i have had a headache since these two teeth have been given me problems
Anyone else have this happen?

Hi Candy
I had similar responses like this when I first started braces. Temperature sensitivity, isolated pain (mostly from TMG clenching in the nights) and general sensitivity.

What I started using was Sensodyne Pro Enamel. This is mostly for soft spots, etc. but I found it also targets sensitivity from clenching, etc. After a few day's use, most sensitivity was gone.

I hope this suggestion helps.

My teeth have always been sensitive to cold, but since getting braced it's got much worse, especially on my back teeth. I love ice cream but eating it is agony now. :( I've just bought some of that Sensodyne Pro Enamel, and after just 2 brushings I can detect a slight improvement.

Yeah, my teeth were always a little cold sensitive too, but nothing that really bothered me. Since being braced (13 days and counting!!), however, my teeth seem a million times more sensitive :-(* . I really notice it when I try to be good and "swish" with water while eating my meals. If the water is too cold (or has ice in it, like at a restaurant), it's really bad. I am hoping this will subside, but in the meantime I will take your advice and get some of that Sensodyne Pro Enamel stuff

I feel you on the hot and cold. I asked my dentist and he said it's because the teeth are moving around and some roots may be exposed as a result. He just recommended that I brush with sensitive toothpaste and brush gently with a soft toothbrush. So far it has gotten better, thank goodness!
