Oww! The Pain!
Okay, I went into the dentist office this morning and instead of putting on braces, they put in spacers. My mouth is so sore and I can't stop the pain. Does anyone know of a way to stop it?

My spacers ached for about 4-5 days. The last few days I hardly noticed they were in there (I had them on for a week).
I took double-doses of Aleve (2 pills every 4-6 hours) and that helped me out but it didn't get rid of the ache 100%, but it made it tolerable. Just be careful about taking more than the recommended dose of OTC pain meds. I only take double doses because my "lady doctor" said I could for that-time-of-the-month pains, so I figured I could do the same for the spacer pain. Its always good to check with your doctor.
If the pain is unbearable, you should call your ortho. He might be able to suggest something.

Spacers hurt badly the whole time they were in for me.
Nothing helped and I wasn't able to eat anything solid.
BUT it is true that they are the worst part (unless you have a surgery to go through). After spacers it took me two weeks to adjust to the actual braces (don't get me wrong, it was an awful two weeks, shredded tongue, no food, etc), but once I did adjust things were fine. So just hang in there! When they take the spacers out it's like instant relief too.
