Fibres or 'fibers' for you americans :)

This may sound odd, well it is odd. I wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this, and what they did about it.
If i run my tongue along my brackets and i can feel sort of 'fibres' on my brackets, like strands of something, really tiny. Like if a tiny bit of floss has got caught on a bracket. I've brushed and brushed and brushed some more and i can't get it off, i don't know what to do.
Any ideas as to what it is or how to get it off? I feel like a want to get a wire brush out and scrub my brackets, however, i don't think thats a good idea....

Thanks KK, i've got some disclosing tablets-so i might have a go with them. As for seeing anything, i've spent a long time in front of the mirror, i got a pair of tweezers and sort of grasped in mid air (!) to see if i could grab hold of anything and got hold of some fibres but i don't know what they are. They're really annoying me, no amount of brushing seems to dislodge them.
Do you think if i went to the hygienist for a good cleaning, she might be able to sort it?

I bet ya anything it is the floss you are using! I have the same problem every so often. I use the floss that has one end that is hard and sometimes my brackets will "split" the floss into a bunch of strands of floss instead of the one strand it started out as. Then all the little strands get caught around my brackets. You just have to be careful to toss the floss and start with a new one when that happens or you will have little pieces in your brackets.

I bet you its the type of floss you are using. I like the oral b super floss and the spngy part usually gets caught on a bracket and leaves strands. I would sometimes follow up with regular floss to clear out any left over strands. Now I use Crest's Glide threader floss and haven't had any problems since. I think you should play around with different types of floss and see what happens.

I get cat hair caught in my braces sometimes. It's a big pain to get out.

KK, I agree that the superfloss seems to be the best at cleaning. I just wish it was shred proof LOL
