When are molars added?

#1 Post by Tamiel34 »

Hi guy's!

I was wondering, when do they bracket the molars? I was told briefly by the ortho. assistant that I have alot of work that needs to be done in the front so the molars will be much later. Is this the case for anyone else? My daughter, who was braced the same day as me, her front teeth are pretty straight and her molars have no brackets. Is it common practice to brackets the molars down the road?

I had LOTs and I mean lots of work to be done in the front teeth but my molars were bracketed.
If your daughter's teeth were pretty straight and they did not bracket the molars then I think that maybe this is how he works.Different orthodontist have their own way of giving treatment .Orthos know what they are doing even though they may practice it differently. I would be curious to know why he/she feels that you and your daughter don't need the molars bracketed?

My second molars were bracketed, but the wire was not connected that far back until about my 6th month. Then after about 6 more months, the wire was cut short of those brackets again and remained that was for the remainder of my treatment.

A LONG time ago, one of the docs posted on here that they don't usually treat the 2nd molar.

Are NONE of your molars braced? Not the pre molars or the molars?

Apart from the second of my second molars on the bottom, all of my teeth were bracketed and wired from the outset of treatment. The second second molars on the bottom were braced 6 weeks later.

On the bottom right the last molar has a bracket, but the one in front of it has a large filling and needs a band. He has not put the band till more room can be made for it. He said the spacers would be very uncomfortable with my teeth this tight. On the bottom left my first molar was pulled when I was a teen. I have my second molar and a wisdom tooth. The second molar has a bracket, not the wisdom tooth. We are going to try to close the gap from the missing molar, not sure if it can be done. Top left first molar has a bracket, not the second. Top right is the same situation as the bottom left. Long answer I know! :) I need to take some pics! Thanks everyone for you're post!
