first month done....and it was a long one

#1 Post by vtrieu »

i just got my braces on the first of march and it seems like i've been at the orthodontics every second day. i had to do a filling before the braces went on, then the filling turned into a root canal and now i'm going to have to get a crown. on top of that i've had 2 brackets fell off and another one just came off yesterday so i'm going to have to go back sometime next week to get it put back on. i feel bad that i've had so many brakets fell off in the first month but its hard to be careful, sometime i just forget and they pop off when i'm chewing something. i have the damon 3s, are these brakets known for falling off?

vtrieu sorry to hear you've had such a hard first month. I too had a lot of visits to the dentist with fillings etc. when I first go braced. In fact they joked "not you again" at one stage. I was feeling very frustrated. Gladly that phase is over now.

I have damon3s but have not had any problems with them falling off and I eat everything, also my teeth started off pretty crooked so there was a lot of movement. They seem pretty well stuck on so I would imagine that the glue wasn't good.

Good luck with the rest of your treatment. Hopefully once this tiresome phase is over you'll have plainer sailing.

Regards

Hey vtrieu, I had my b-day on the 1st as well. Sorry to here about the bumpy road for the first month. Hopefully things will calm down soon. When do you have your first adjustment, mine is tomorrow the 9th. I have not noticed any movement yet, hopefully soon.

Good Luck getting those pesky brackets to stay where there supposed to.

Hey vtrieu,

Hope things improve for you. I just hit the 1 month mark myself. Haven't really noticed too much in the way of changes yet, but I understand that there should be quite a bit over the next few months. Hang in there and good luck.

Vtrieu: Sorry to hear about your travails. I was braced with Damon 3's on March 1 and have had no trouble with brackets or anything else. I noticed movement in the teeth after about 2-3 weeks and it's still evolving. My first adjustment isn't until May 16 (10 week interval) at which time I get four more brackets, a heavier wire. Someone else on the forum reported a lot of bracket problems due to faulty adhesive. Maybe that's the problem..good luck!
