"Clicky Jaw": Anyone have success loosing this aft

#1 Post by KatK »

My jaw clicks when I talk/eat/breath/move.... my ortho says it's related to an overbite. It drives me nuts! I was wondering if anyone has had this problem... and if it actually went away after braces/overbite correction?

Thanks! :)

I actually haven't had braces yet, but I have a clicky jaw and other TMJ symptoms (including jaw soreness and earaches), too. I just wanted to say that my ortho pretty much agrees with yours, she said that my TMJ was possibly related to my overbite and that braces might help.

I had some slight and sporadic clicking, popping and sticking going on before braces. I went in for a cleaning right before I got braces on and 6 months later, at my next cleaning, the hygienist remarked that I no longer had a slight pop in my jaw when she did her physical examination. I have also noticed that it seems to be gone. At my last cleaning a few weeks ago, she again mentioned that my jaw is still free of those little problems. By the way, I also had an overbite, but wearing my elastics religously as prescribed fixed that.

I have/had that for aslong as I can remember. My SARPE was done in part to fix it. My ortho says it is totally related to my bite and this was the only way to fix it.

I've had a clicking jaw too, for as long as I can remember. But, since being braced (almost 8 months ago) it very RARELY happens anymore!

I believe your ortho's right... they don't get the big bucks for nothing I guess...

I had a clicky and sometimes achy jaw from a cross bite and have had braces just over a year. I would say the last 9 mo I have not noticed my jaw sliding, or clicking :D :D :D .
