extremely sad

#1 Post by kayla4644 »

i had my 10th adjustment, and they get me a new wire YAY (its rectangular) and get aload of this, ligatures. im sad because i still have two gaps on my right side that are fairly noticable and they say they wont close so they wont be putting on powerchains unless they move back...which is ridiculous i find well because i thought i was paying 5,000 bucks for a perfect smile...i guess not

I had a similiar problem with my two front teeth. They were overlapped and when they got straightened out; there was a gap towards the top but they touched towards the bottom of my teeth. Very noticable by me. I had to tell my ortho that I needed this gap fixed and I was very adament about it. I told them to saw in between my two teeth; where they were toching; so that the gap would close. Do you get that?? Really hard to try to explain it!! After they did that; sure enough gap was gone!!

I just ran into some problems with my ortho not doing things. I had to keep reminding them and telling them things. I'm very happy with my teeth but I will never recommend my ortho again!!

no, nothing like that.

they said that because my teeth are where they want them and are perfectly aligned they dont wanna pull them 100% together and make all the teeth off.

and they are good and friendly, im just ticked cuz thats the only reason why i got braces- to close gaps!!

oh well maybe i will get use to it or perhaps some bonding is in order

thanks guys,

k

I see exactly what you mean. The ortho's job is to do 2 things. Straighten/align teeth and do everything to make sure that you are satisfied with the final results. Gaps in the front would be a problem for me too! How much shaving/shaping will he have to do? Is it a tiny bit?

One thing my ortho has told me several times is that he wants to make sure that when I leave his office on the "Unbracing day" That I leave there a very happy and satisfied patient.
After you spending $5,000 on the braces ,I think that your front gaps deffinately need to be fixed. Even if he has to shave/shape some top and bottom front teeth to do it. It might take an additional 2 months to close these little gaps and it might be something the ortho does not want to put more work into.

The only way I could understand him refusing to do this would be because your bite will be way ,way off.
Your other option is getting them bonded or veneers on your two front teeth. Of course that is another $2,000 for 2 veneers :(
I also paid $5,500 for braces not including deep scaling cleanings,6 extractions and meds that all came out of my pocket. By the time I'm done it will probably be like $8,000 + !

Have a serious talk with your ortho or maybe even consult another ortho and see what he thinks about this...

I also have a gap on each side of my lateral. He said he could not close it either, it would shift the bite incorrectly. The only alternative is bonding or veneers in the end.

Me too Chris and KK. I gave up a perfect midline for a great bite. It's not very noticeable unless your like one of us on here who notice everything now.

Best wishes,
Leah
