Ceramic top / lingual bottom - is this possible?

#1 Post by donkeyire »

Hey there,

Lingual top and ceramic bottom is common enough, but what about the other way around? I can't find any information on this online.

Background: Wanted lingual braces but was told that my teeth weren't suitable due to the position of one of my canines (it's high in my gum and pointing out) on top. I'm getting a second opinion on this as the ortho just didn't seem to like working with lingual braces and said he had only used them about 30 times in total. My second choice was ceramic top and bottom but was told that I can only get metal on bottom due to my overbite.

Now I've been thinking - what about ceramic top and lingual bottom? Has anyone heard of this? I'm not willing to get metal braces due to my age (30) and job. Treatment would have to be discreet.

Thanks for your help!
