I will be getting braces soon, and though I'm leaning away from linguals (cost being one of the major issues with it; I would say at this point I am most likely going regular metal braces on bottom, ceramic on top), I want to explore all my options.
1. How long does it usually take before the braces stop shredding your tongue? I'm assuming the potential for minor cuts and such stays throughout the entire 1 or 2 year treatment time, but how long is that initial "getting used to it" phase?
2. Anyone have trouble whistling after they got linguals?
3. Is there any difference from regular braces regarding the types of food you can eat?
Seems like I had another question, but I can't remember what it is now. I'll post again later if I remember.

Not really, I think I covered most of the usual topics - approximate length of treatment time (this was volunteered, I didn't need to ask), how long it would take to adjust to linguals, effect on speech, eating, etc.
any questions you wish you would have asked at your initial consultation? the ortho at my office is pretty well known for lingual (endless articles on him) but I'm seeing one of his associates...
I had wanted to talk to more former patients of my ortho to get their views, but the time of year (Christmas/New Year) was difficult and I only managed to get to one. It was still good to talk to him.
