overcorrecting with elastic HELP

My Son is 15 years old and currently doing elastic for class 3 but I think they accidentally let him wear elastic for too long almost 3 months. now he's like overjet class 2. they told him not to wear elastic for 1 month and then might do class 2 elastic. should I worry? it can be reversed?? right ?
