Braces and starting school

#1 Post by Will28 »

Is there any problem getting my son's braces a few days before school starts? I know there will be some soreness, but is there much chance of extreme pain? Allergic reaction? He will be starting a new school and dealing with this at the same time. Thanks!

During grade 10, I waited until after my first term exams to get my braces. There is about a week of pain from his teeth moving so he will have a hard time chewing hard foods. The pain can get pretty bad from something as simple as biting into a piece of toast. He will get over the pain in a week or so so it shouldn't be too bad. There will only be pain a few days after each monthly adjustment.
