I just googled a pendulum. What is the major difference between that and an expander?
Also, I agree with the Waterpik for cleaning. I'd never make it without mine. My son uses it for his expander and I use it for where I can't floss. Luckily, my bite plate is removable and I can easily clean it.

Re: Braces at 41
Give them a couple of weeks. I promise you'll get used to them. It really does suck at first, no lies. Wait till they powerchain you. Holy hell. That's pain, but it too, will subside.bracesat41 wrote:Ok so they are on. This sucks

Re: Advice for eating with molars?
Do you mean biting into foods with your front teeth is causing the problem? I don't eat with my front teeth aside from biting into things. It I don't even do that while I have my braces on. I hate the feeling of stuff stuck in the front brackets, and frankly, my front teeth, top and bottom, are jus...

I have one tooth that didn't get a bracket and it will get one next time (I got back in 4 weeks). She was ama...

I would probably be freaking out. I've never heard of them being able to push a tooth over but then again, I'm in accounting, not orthodontics. I hope someone can give you a better answer.Juliebrynn1 wrote:Any help would be greatly appreciated. Seems a bit odd this is happening.

Re: 29 - Braces Journey (terrified)
Had my cleaning apt yesterday at my regular dentist.... It was not fun. My jaw... I don't know what happened but it must have gotten fatigued from having it open? Part way through the cleaning my lower jaw kept diving to the left and locking up! I had no control over it and it was so painful... We ...

Re: 29 - Braces Journey (terrified)
I definitely don't think I could have tolerated turbos! My bite plate feels loose. I don't know how they fix that, but I guess I will see. I'm still doing good and only taking it out when brushing and eating. My appointment is 5/18. Crappy quality but I can tell my tooth that jetted out before is p...

Re: My Happy Day, April 24th!
Well, they are finally off! The removal process went fairly quick since the molar bands were taken off almost 2 weeks prior. They had to grind off the adhesive and polish up my teeth. They got impressions taken for my clear retainers and I picked those up the same afternoon. It now feels...

Re: 29 - Braces Journey (terrified)
Wow!!! I can already see a difference in your teeth! That's amazing! I don't really notice a difference in mine visually yet, but I feel it when I floss. I definitely have the same problem of creating a suction when I sleep. I am so glad to take that darn thing out to eat and brush in the morning. ...

Re: Cracked front teeth due to biting/grinding onto lower brackets?
I would ask your ortho about a bite plate or turbos. I myself have a removable bite plate due to grinding and clenching and a strong overbite. It's a pain at first, but so worth not damaging my teeth or braces.
