I didn't notice (visible) changes for the first three months or so, that said, I could definitely "feel" changes to my bite within the first two months. I know and accept that my teeth move exceptionally slowly, so hopefully you will notice movement earlier than I did.

I'm with ignoring them, if they don't get s reaction they'll drop it, on the other hand if you make a huge production out of it chances are it'll get even worse and people might even start making comments within earshot of you just to get a reaction. Wow, I really wish I lived in the perfect world S...

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the brand of brackets your ortho uses (some brands don't make brackets for molars). Also if your treatment plan calls for some other appliance, it may need to be anchored onto the inside of the band.

I must agree with Andromeda on this one, depending on the hardware used as well as the speed at which your teeth move the same wire could be actively working for a long time. I've had the same arch wire in on top since the end of June 2008 and my next appointment is 31 March 2009, that means I'll ha...

Absolutely fabulous movement, your teeth are looking really great. I'm so jealous of your fast progress, I'm at the 1year 6month + mark and my stubborn teeth still haven't moved nearly as much as yours.
Congrats and good luck with your bite getting sorted as efficiently! :D

I don't get the point of what you want to have them removed for ,Jill(sorry). Perhaps you could give us some idea why it's so important to have them removed for six weeks (this is less than my normal adjustment interval), I wouldn't wish having braces re-bonded again on anyone if it could be avoided...

I hear ya on the endless scenario, I'm only at the one year six month mark (and I have at least another year to go) and already I sometimes feel like you just described.
Perhaps your ortho will surprise you at your next appointment ? (we can always hope)

I've found the best thing to do when a bracket is causing the type of damage you mentioned, is to put wax on the offending bracket/s and keep it there (or replace as necessary) for a few of days (24 hours a day) until the damaged area has had a chance to heal up. When your lip/cheek heal up they wil...

Mine's about 5 minutes from home, but about 45 minutes from my workplace as I work in a different city to where I live. This makes going to appointments (especially emergency ones) during the day a real pain in the rear (I always try to get the first appointment in the morning so I can go on my way ...

I've not been in your shoes but please ask your ortho before you double up on elastics as you could do more harm than good if you exert too much pressure on your teeth and disturb the blood flow etc. Your doc knows best, so ask him/her first, after all that's what you're paying all your hard earned ...

First time in my life

I was just brushing/flossing and I realized that my lower four incisors are all in a row for the first time in my life. This probably seams like no big deal to other people but is really exciting for me because at the age of 33 it is the first time they are all next to each other instead of the two ...

As sdawdy said things do unfortunately get (sometimes) a lot worse first before they they start going in the right direction. However, if you're still not at ease about the situation, then give your ortho a call and discuss your concerns. I very much doubt your ortho would decide to do extractions a...

I've read about people sticking a blob of sugarless gum on the end of a really poky wire, perhaps this would help (at least until your cheek heals a bit) if you just leave it there between brushings.
