Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

jaime - Oh thanks for letting me know! I'll stay away from the multivitamins for a while then. I'll probably pick up some bromelain as well. I hope your husband decides to stay home with you. Will anyone else be there for you if he isn't? My husband took off 7 days from work to help take care of me....

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

snapdresser/deathorglory - I'm tempted to ask my surgeon when I can resume relations, but I'll just play it by how I'm feeling. I imagine that would be a slightly awkward conversion with him lol. jaime - My surgeon also takes preventative measures for nose changes. My ortho mentioned that one thing ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Jaime - I asked my surgeon almost immediately on how much he was moving the jaws lol. And I wonder if that hospital just has a certain policy about having an immediate family member there during a scheduled surgery. Snapdresser - He said he couldn't get away with just moving the upper. My results wo...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

That's odd that they wouldn't let your mother leave. I hope that isn't the case for my husband. 10 hours is a long time to wait around doing nothing. My surgery is being done about 45 minutes from where I live. But thankfully my husband has a friend that lives there so he can hang out with him at hi...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

I'm sure a few of my husbands shirts would work pretty good for me as well.

My surgeon's assistant said mine will probably take about 10 hours. I feel bad for my husband having to wait that long. It'll be like no time has passed at all for me lol. Boo to the catheter

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

deathorglory - I plan on buying a few button down shirts for after the surgery. I can't imagine putting a shirt on over a swollen face feels all too great lol. snapdresser - Oh, no I'm not, I mean I have 10-1/2 work days left at work before the surgery. I was excluding the weekends and my pre-op app...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

snapdresser - I see what you mean about funny shows being painful while recovering. I think I might be okay though. Most of the time I'm a laughing inwardly type of person. Though I do occasionally burst out laughing at certain things...I'll just have to watch some shows and see how I react lol. Did...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Snapdresser - I'm probably going to pick the best rated one on Amazon as well. I also have prime, so I'll probably pick one that's best rated AND that ships for free haha. Yikes, that sucks that your surgeon hasn't given you a price yet. I'm saving this season of Game of Thrones to watch during reco...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Snapdresser - Do you have a link to the jaw bra you are going to get? I'll be ordering mine the beginning of June. Probably picking up a tub of some type of protein powder this week though. I'm starting to wish I would have bought or saved back for supplies many, many months ago. Only 4 more paychec...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Oooo that sounds delicious :D My surgeon told me last week that most people lose 10-15 lbs after the surgery and told me I should try and put on some weight before the surgery. It's been awesome  Lol! I'm at an average/healthy-ish weight (135 lbs.) I've been trying (and failing haha) to get ba...

Re: Braces for less than 6 months before surgery

I don't think it's too uncommon to only have them on about 6 months before. It all just depends on your case and how much movement needs to be done. I'll be having my surgery at about 8 months in but the surgeon/orthodontist thought I was ready at around 6 months.

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

My grandmother-in-law just bought me a Ninja Kitchen Pulse for my birthday/jaw surgery. I'm sure it'll come in handy! I thought about buying meal replacement shakes instead of making my own, but man those are pricy! Thanks for the canned coconut milk tip! Oo and I love PB2. I've actually made a PB2 ...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Oh okay, that makes complete sense. I don't know if I have any sleep apnea issues or not. I'm tempted to see my regular physician and see if she can give me a prescription for some type of nebulizer machine (they make portable ones) to make it easier to take the medication. Though I wonder if gettin...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

deathorglory - Thanks for the reassurance. I figured I wouldn't have any money due the day of--it's just a worry of mine lol. I'm expecting to pay the surgeon's fee up front. Oh yikes, that would give me a mini heart attack too! Thanks for the light tip for the mirror! I have one but I can never see...

Re: June/July Surgery Buddies

Snapdresser - Yep. He plans on wiring me shut (with bands, not actual wires) for I think 2-3 weeks after the surgery. I've read that some do and some don't. Maybe it sometimes depends on how much movement they are doing? As for the chin, I don't think mine's too large...it might extend a little bit ...
