Re: About deep bite and curved archwires
My ortho used bracket placement plus class 2 elastics to open my bite a few mm. If you search user posts for LittleSern and ItsFreyja, I believe they both had reverse curve archwires. It's something I was interested in because my smile is really gummy, but I don't really have anymore room for them t...

what would you do if these were your teeth?
I started invisalign in April 2013 and had them on till July 2015. Long story short, my first ortho really messed up my bite and wouldn't admit it. I couldn't trust him with a round of braces so I paid another $5k to start braces under a different orthodontist. I got braced November of 2015 with an ...

Re: Does this look weird to you?
I wouldn;t have noticed if I didn't read your text first. I wouldn't get a four tooth added unless it was noticeable. DO you show your bottom teeth when you smile? Only my top teeth show. Also, how is your bite without the additional tooth? If you are in a class 1 bite and have no overjet, then won'...

Re: Protruding tooth root
Thanks!! I had a really bad orthodontist my first time around, so I'm always really cautious with my current one. I trust him, but I'm still a little apprehensive because of round 1. So being the crazy person that I am, I asked my sister this question (she has perfect teeth and has never had braces)...

Re: Self-litigating braces I gates continually opening
I have the Damon self ligating braces and I've never had a problem with them opening. For the past year it's taken at least 5-10 minutes during each wire change to pop them open. So painful =(.

Protruding tooth root
Does anyone have roots that protude? My second pre-molar's tooth root protrudes a bit, but I can actually feel a bump about where I estimate the tip of the root to be. It pokes out quite a bit (red arrow). It's not like that on the right side, although both sides are really red. I asked my ortho and...

Re: Changing your orthodontists ?
I've read that a lot of people will have swollen gums and it'll go down a while after getting braces off. Mine have swelled while having braces on. Make sure they're brushing the teeth/gumline really well and angling the tooth brush. That helped my gum health significantly while in braces.

transferring orthodontists for move
Anyone have experience with transferring to a new ortho? I wasn't anticipating having to transfer, my time was supposed to end in May, but here I am. We're waiting on one pre-molar root to move in (it kind of pokes out of the gum).
If you have, can you break down the cost?

Re: Wisdom teeth - do they need routine extraction before braces?
Have you asked your dentist for a second opinion? I know a lot of people that had braces as a kid and now their teeth are crooked because their wisdom teeth came in. A friend of mine had a permanent retainer and it caused her wire to pop off and teeth to move.

Yes, your gum will follow. my lateral incisors on the top teeth were much higher than the middle and canines. My gums are in the same place (tooth stays the same length).

Re: Molars don't touch :(
the plastic retainers have a tendency to intrude your molars, at least from what I've read experienced. I think moving to Hawley retainer where your biting edges touch all the time may improve it although it's weird that only your left side changed.

Re: Invisalign to Braces
I did but not really by choice. I had invisalign through my first ortho, I ended with an open posterior bite, so really only my front teeth touched. It also shifted my top teeth forward so I had more of a class 2 bite. I wasn't confident in my first ortho and switched to a new orthodontist. Because ...

Re: Nearly finished but now have overjet :(
How bad is your overjet? what is you bite relationship? For example class 1, class 2, or class 3? If your bite feels weird, thats not a good sign.
If I was you, I would get a second opinion.
