The only thing I would really be concerned about would be the decision at age 7 to remove 4 permanent teeth 4 years down the line. Seems like that would be plenty of time to facillitate growth and make room to avoid extraction.

Hi, and welcome. Though I don't have experience with either, I would choose MARA over headgear, because it isn't removable and therefore you wouldn't be tempted. The pain, I would say about a 3 or 4. Not so bad, but biting down hurt, and the occasional time I could bump myself and hit my teeth toget...

Honestly, I'd be much more inclined to pay the extra out of pocket, than to go with an orthodontist which I wasn't 100% comfortable with.

Well, ceramics would be a whole lot less likely to effect speech at all. I really think for adults, people look at men in braces a lot more than women in a bad sense. If you see a woman in braces its no big deal, cause they are expected to care about their appearance more than men(I hope that doesn'...

1. Yes, depends on the amount expansion neccessary, and the orthodontist.

2. No idea, maybe slightly fuller cheeks?

The general consensus here is that you shouldn't be having orthodontics done by a dentist. So yes you should change to an orthodontist. In fact, if I were in your shoes I would even ask for at least some money refunded from your dentist. Heck, at this point I'd go as far as getting a lawyer to write...

I know how you feel tammers. Braces make being sick seem so much more unpleasant. I've had A sore throat, cough and headache for a week and a half now, and ugh.

As long as you keep up with a good cleaning regime while in braces, it shouldn't be a problem

My vote is that it is a reaction to the glue, rather than the bandages. :)

Sounds like you're referring to molar buildups, or something of the like. I can't really help you, but you might want to try searching for posts about molar buildups.

Between the two, I'd vote lingual. That being said, I'd agree with Lola, you will notice them more than anyone else. Some of the ceramics nowadays are so clear they really are hardly noticeable, and braces on adults are becoming a lot more common nowadays anyhow.

The little colored elastics(ligatures or just ligs) really won't effect cleaning much, except they do tend to stain sometimes. I'd say go for it sometime and have fun.. I unfortunatly got a boring orthodontist that uses wire ties and grey powerchains, he only gave me the option for colors for a mont...
