That's pretty insane. As I recall, my endodontist took an xray after finishing the procedure to make sure she didn't miss any roots and took another xray at my follow up appointment a week later. I can't really think of a good reason why this was missed, unless you had an infection that needed to be...

I bet molars are particularly (and painfully) slow due to all of those roots. My canines took a few months and they only have a single root (I think). Molars can have three or four.

Regarding the Damon system reducing the need to perform extractions, I feel like that's largely bunk and/or slick marketing. Brackets themselves are, more or less, the same. It's the skill of the orthodontist and their treatment plan that are going to make a much bigger difference on your outcome. A...

Heyo. I also had "massively crooked" front teeth and have been in braces for 15 months. If it's any consolation, I'm going to be in braces for at least two years, if not longer, to correct my bite and straighten out those teeth (probably to functionality -- perfection has not been discusse...

Braces-related pain, for me, tends to be pressure sensitive and the most acute pain goes away once I remove the pressure on my tooth. If it's root or decay problems, you will typically have intense sensitivity to cold and possibly to warm things as well. Warm is generally considered worse and if the...

Honestly, I'd say 90% of my adjustments are absolutely fine, but those don't stick out in my mind. I do like not having to worry about food staining my ligs. The smoke grey powerchains I'd get for four weeks at a time tended to not stay grey, despite frequent brushing. :)

My first few months were my most sore and yes, those doors did sometimes hurt when they were opening and closing them. I'd recommend taking ibuprofen about half an hour to an hour before your adjustment. That should help with some of the pain. Thankfully, it'll generally get better. Sometimes, I'll ...

So when I went to have my records appointment done, I had to sign a release in order to have what I thought was a CT scan. What was actually done, however, was referred to as a 'ceph' in orthodontist office jargon. What I ended up with is a picture that looked like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos...

I had a crown lengthening (removal of gum tissue) on one of the crowned teeth, which meant that the neighbor tooth also had more of the crown exposed. It's now significantly more sensitive (as are some other teeth from uneven wear), but the folks at my ortho's office try to work around it. I do know...

If it makes you feel any better, I've had two root canals with crowns and have fillings in every one of my molars. Also have some enamel coloured fillings in a few of the front upper teeth. If you'd like to see how much work I've had done, this photo sums it up nicely: http://www.flickr.com/photos/3...

The steel wire on the social six is meant to hold them together as a unit. I'm assuming that you have elastics going from your upper canines to lower molars, or something like that, so the steel ties reduce the gaps that form between the social six.

Impalas since about this time last year. Currently only for 12 hours a night until I get my suresmile wires next week. I've been told the elastic fun really begins then.

I had a close call with one of my molars a few months back. It was symptomatic for quite some time after some intense elastic use and accidentally getting tugged on during a wire change. Between the endodontist, my dentist, and my orthodontist, I pieced together that a root canalled molar with a tem...

I'm assuming he works with Damon, which is why he recommended them. It's really more about the skill of the orthodontist, but everybody has a toolkit they prefer to work with. My experience: Pros - no ligatures to stain Cons - doors get stuck open sometimes, especially with the partially clear ones ...
