Re: IPR????!
I've had some IPR done on top and bottom front teeth. It helped me too. I had one tooth that was slightly behind a front one for so long that the gum is weird shaped between the 2 teeth, so IPR is helping bring them together better. I will need more done on a couple teeth likely at some point. My or...

Re: can feel root of tooth
Thats reassuring, glad its not just me then! My ortho has tried to push it back in a bit but my brces are due to come off in a few weeks, so I'm really hoping the dentist will say its normal or ok. That tooth was quite far back initially so maybe bringing it forward it just has a large root. Let me...

Re: Class II elastics causing gaps?
Gaps like this? It’s not clear if the gaps formed as a result of force(s) exerted by elastics, arch-wire, or both. The elastics are on both sides in identical box configurations; similar to triangle, class II. I hope this helps! 5BA53FE4-8614-4C11-A980-8DEA17947CD9.jpeg Yup. Mine is nearly identica...

Re: Class II elastics causing gaps?
No. No power chains right now because the one bracket that was repositioned was too far out of alignment. I was before that though. I imagine they will go back on once it’s straightened out.

Class II elastics causing gaps?
Hi! It’s been a while posting for me. Nothing big is happening. I’m just frustrated with the process currently. I’m just curious if others got gaps from class II elastics? I’m currently in a thinner wire up top than I used to be (16x22 niti. It was stainless, but I had a bracket repositioned, so bac...

Re: Grinding
I do. It’s one of the reasons I got braces. Clenching and grinding during sleep caused my teeth to shift a lot. No mouth guard or anything. I was told to weather through it. A mouth guard will affect jaw position and tooth movement. It’s definitely improved a lot since I got braces though. You shoul...

Re: can feel root of tooth
I have this as well. I have prominent roots to start with I guess, but one tooth is worse than the rest (first premolar). I recently went in to have it looked at and the ortho repositioned the bracket, so we are seeing how that goes. He seemed to think it wasn’t a big deal, but I could actually see ...

Re: Ugh. Help. Is this a normal part of the process? Just about ready to quit treatment.
Updating in case others have a similar issue. It was getting worse and actually started bugging me, so I went in. The bracket was repositioned and I was put back in a 16x22 niti wire to let it straighten back out. I go back in a month for my next adjustment. They weren’t overly concerned about it th...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Minor set back. I went back to the office today. I had posted in a separate thread where a tooth root was sticking out a lot more than the rest. It was getting worse and actually started bugging me, so I brought it up. I went in and they repositioned the bracket so I am back in a 16x22 niti wire unt...

Re: Teeth mobility, ortho wants to deband :(
Unfortunately, I can’t answer your question, but if you don’t mind I wanted to ask if you were advised extractions specifically because of your gum thinness? I also have thin gums. I had 2 consults - 1 advised for extractions and 1 was against extractions. I decided not to get the extractions. The r...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old
Adjustment day. Today I went in for my adjustment. It's been basically a year (my braces were put on April 23 2018), so I asked for a progress update and if 12 more months still seems realistic. The orthodontist said 6-9 months!!! I just about jumped out of the chair. He said likely closer to 9 mont...

Re: How long were you on Niti wires?
I’m 2 weeks short of being a year into a 2 year treatment plan. On top - niti for 9 months, steel for the last 2.5 months. Bottom - I’m still in a niti wire (rectangular 17x22... I’m guessing I’ll get steel within the next few weeks based on how it’s looking). Hopefully that helps. I think it really...

Re: First appointment and questions. Changing Ligatures etc.
No problem! I had a lot of questions in the beginning as well. I felt worried about every little thing. I still do, but different things now. This board is very helpful. I didn't notice it to be more painful! I've actually had it line up a couple times where my cleaning was a couple days after an ad...

Re: First appointment and questions. Changing Ligatures etc.
Hi! About the pain during ligature changes - my first couple adjustments I found the ligature changing to hurt. Now that I’m in stainless steel wires and they tie them in differently at my office with the elastics and it is a bit painful again. I think it’s common. Even though your teeth may not be ...
