Re: Reccommended type of braces? and Colour?
I'm also African with clear braces. A few things, I've read clear braces work more slowly so it may add time to your treatment plan. They're also supposedly more difficult to remove from your teeth. Keep those things in mind before committing. They were the same price as metal braces for me. I haven...

Re: Day 1 and I already want to rip them off! Help!
Thankyou everyone for all your helpful comments. How long can I expect the pain to last before it subsides? I mean the aching / sensitive teeth pain And then also how long did it take for your gums to get used to the braces? I can't imagine everyone puts wax on their brackets every single day for a...

You're my braces twin! I sucked my thumb for a long time too! I have ceramic top and bottoms and am fixing an open bite and moderate crowding. I'm 28. I was told I may need extractions but they hasn't happened yet. I wonder how quickly you'll see changes once those teeth are removed!

Re: A month in Italy! Red Wine ans ligatures...
Smoke or gray colored ligs won't stain. Light blue is also an option. However, I have heard from differing sources that depending on bracket types, some ceramic styles CAN alo stain as well. I would take a bottle of water with you and make sure to swig after drinking wine. You also may want to brush...

Re: Ceramic braces on lower teeth - your experience?
I have clear on top and bottom. I was a bit afraid at first since everyone says it's bad and your teeth are prone to chipping. However, at a full 2 months in I can say I haven't noticed any problems thus far. The bottom is actually a bit more comfortable than the top.

Re: Coffee lover
Metal or Ceramic?
Metal doesn't really stain but if you like coffee and you must have it, brush after every cup or if that's not available then rinse your mouth out with water or drink a cup after coffee.

Re: Do I have flared teeth after braces?
Let us know how this goes! I almost feel as if your ortho didn't try her best to straighten your teeth. Sometimes extractions are needed and that's ok.

I have ceramic uppers and lowers. Depending on your bite, it's an option. So far, I like mine. They can be a little bulky but you get used to them. If you're worried about staining, get light blue or gray ligs. I have clear ones and haven't gotten any staining but I haven't eaten curry. I have had c...

Re: New to braces, really need help!
Without braces your teeth will progressively get worse and depending on your issue, will be harder to treat as an adult. I'm not 15, I'm older than you, but is it that serious? You're not paying for them and this seems to be the common age to have braces in. Maybe it's the realization seeing in but ...

Re: Brushing Habits
2 to 3x a day. During the week, 3x a day and on the weekend at home 2. It also depends on what I eat. If I eat a big meal on the weekends then I go ahead and brush. I mainly drink water but if I drink a Special K or suck on a hard candy I'm not always gonna get up and go brush.

Re: Tooth pain didn't start until 3 months after ceramic braces
My first wire change wasn't until a little over 2 months. 7-8 weeks. I had to go in earlier because my brackets kept coming undone and my next appointment out is rougly another 2 months. But yes, your teeth will change throughout the whole ordeal and some days will be worse than others. Mine really ...

Re: I want them off!!
I have ceramic braces (NOT Damo) but I remember the first week feeling SO depressed. I even made a thread on here asking if anyone had switched over to metal before. I almost couldn't hold my mouth shut, couldn't talk properly and they just felt so damn big! However, it does get better. A mont...

Re: new member: I am an orthodontist.
Maybe you could make a master thread where you answer user questions. If you go to the main forum you will see a bunch of questions from braced newbies, myself included. It would be nice to hear from a trained professional.
